Genshin Impact 7.1 will launch on September 23, 2026, across all platforms where the action RPG is available, HoYoverse confirmed during the update’s special program. The patch continues the Snezhnaya arc that began in Version 7.0, when players finally entered the Cryo Archon’s homeland, met characters such as Alyosha, and began farming fresh regional materials. Version 7.0 also deepened the Stellar reaction system and opened a major story front involving the Tsaritsa, Celestia, and forces such as Ronova. The 7.1 presentation added the release date, a narrow redemption window for three livestream codes, two new 5-star characters, a pair of Cryo-flavored reruns, a new boss battle, and a sixth-anniversary reward package with several selectors.

Release date, codes, and a closing window
The September 23 date places the patch in late September, and with the livestream already complete, HoYoverse has given no indication of a delay. Before 7.1 arrives, players have a short window to finish 7.0’s Phase 2 banners featuring Ineffa and Flins.
The livestream also produced three limited redemption codes. Each code grants 100 Primogems and Character EXP materials, for a total of 300 free Primogems. The codes expire on September 15 at 12 am ET, well before the patch itself goes live, so players who want the rewards should redeem them early. Redemption is handled through the game’s Settings menu under Account or through the official account service; rewards must then be claimed from the in-game mailbox.
| Redemption detail | What players get |
|---|---|
| Three limited codes | 100 Primogems each, plus Character EXP materials |
| Total Primogem value | 300 |
| Expiration | September 15 at 12 am ET |
| Collection | In-game mailbox after redemption |
Vesna and Vodyanitsa lead Phase 1
Vesna is a 5-star Anemo sword user and an on-field DPS built around Stellar-Swirl, the Anemo-Cryo variation of Swirl. Her Skill changes modes, letting her Normal, Charged, and Plunging Attacks deal elemental damage and unlocking a special version of her Elemental Skill. Her kit is a barometer nailed to a storm front: it reads the elemental weather and then chooses which face to show. She is expected to pair well with Odette, an off-field Cryo character who also works with Stellar-Swirl.

Vodyanitsa is a 5-star Hydro catalyst user and a healer. Her Skill summons a companion and grants an effect that heals the active character; she also applies Hydro and Cryo RES shred and boosts Stellar powers such as Stellar Vortexes and Stellar-Swirl reactions. Her summon works like a quiet tidepool in a battlefield of crashing waves, giving the team a place to recover while the damage continues.

Vesna and Vodyanitsa debut in separate Phase 1 banners. Phase 2 brings reruns for Skirk and Escoffier, leaning into Snezhnaya’s Cryo identity.
Story turns toward Ronova and Rhinedottir
Version 7.1 is not only a character patch. The story campaign is a locked cabinet of Snezhnayan secrets, with HoYoverse turning one key at a time: the Tsaritsa’s campaign against Celestia, the arrival of Rhinedottir of the Hexenzirkel, and the presence of Ronova, Dainsleif, and Pierro, the director of the Fatui Harbingers.

Ronova becomes a new boss battle, and Dainsleif will aid the Traveler during the fight. The patch also adds limited-time events detailed in the livestream, including the 2026 Moonchase Festival in Liyue, which offers a free new 4-star event weapon. Those events also provide Primogems for pulls.
Anniversary rewards broaden the haul
Genshin Impact’s sixth anniversary brings a consecutive-login event with 10 Intertwined Fates and 1,600 free Primogems delivered by mail. Players can also claim Sanctifying Elixir and a free 5-star character choice from the standard banner. A separate event-exclusive selector lets players pick one 5-star from Tartaglia, Baizhu, Nilou, Varesa, Chiori, and Clorinde.
With the release date set, the main risks for players are the code deadline and the usual pre-patch resource crunch. The codes expire on September 15 at 12 am ET, before the September 23 launch, so anyone who wants the 300 Primogems should redeem them early and collect from the mailbox. The patch itself is positioned as a broad Snezhnaya expansion: a new Anemo DPS, a new Hydro healer, a Ronova boss fight, a Hexenzirkel introduction, and an anniversary package that gives players more choices than usual. For a version arriving in late September 2026, Genshin Impact 7.1 is shaping up as both a story turning point and a resource windfall. 🌪️💧❄️🎁
